Laos work preparation

Several thousand Bangladeshis went with BMET clearance in 2025–26, but since September 2026 Laos has stopped new work permits and labour visas for Bangladeshis. Laos's “Golden Triangle” area is also notorious for online scam compounds.

Be careful before you pay

Laos has suspended new work permits and labour visas (LA-B2) for Bangladeshis from 1 September to 31 December 2026, and the Expatriates' Welfare Ministry has told workers not to go to Laos until further notice. Anyone selling a “Laos visa” now is a scammer. The US 2025 trafficking report ranks Laos at the lowest level (Tier 3).

  • Verify the agency's RL licence with BMET
  • Employer: Company name and workplace (province) on the work permit
  • Checked whether the workplace is in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Bokeo province
  • Had the demand letter and company verified by the embassy
  • No payment without a receipt and written contract
