Work permit — the basics

L/B permit (canton + SEM approval, quota) → D visa

  1. 1Employer proves no Swiss/EU worker is available

Be careful before you pay

Switzerland takes only highly qualified workers from outside the EU, and within quotas. Offers of a “visa” for ordinary work are almost certainly a scam.

  • Verify the agency's RL licence with BMET
  • Employer: Company on Zefix (central business register)
  • Checked whether my degree and experience meet SEM's high-skill conditions
  • Canton and SEM approval are done — only then apply for the visa
  • No payment without a receipt and written contract
